The Difference Between A Flat and A Top Sheet
Can't decide between the two? Let us fill you in!
While both are equally functional, some hotel properties prefer one over the other because of their unique properties. In this email, we'll quickly run down the differences between a flat sheet and a top sheet plus when and where they should be used.
Flat Sheets
Flat sheets are often used as a bottom layer for triple sheeting. These sheets have no elasticity built in, it's a normal, sheet like the one most people sleep directly under — the layer that separates them from the duvet or comforter. Here are some of our products with Flat Sheet options:
Top Sheets
Top sheets are typically made from 100% polyester and are a heavier weight than a flat sheet, and they also do not have elastic pockets. They often have a design or pattern, versus a plain white flat sheet, and are easier for housekeeping in regards to both room turnover and laundering. Check out our Vela Top Sheets - we have in stock (Vela Decorative Top Sheets) and made-to-order built-in top sheets (Vela Uniti Top Sheets).
